Characteristics of Successful Entrepreneurs in Wooden Furniture Export Business

Abstract
This mixed-methodology research aimed to (1) study the characteristics of the successful entrepreneurs in the wooden furniture export business, and (2) to develop the structural equation model of the characteristics of the successful entrepreneurs in the wood furniture export business. The samples for qualitative research were 9 experts and 7 advisors. The samples for quantitative research were 500 entrepreneurs in the export furniture industry. The results revealed that (1) the characteristics of successful entrepreneurs consisted of five important factors: personality, knowledge and skills, capability, vision and creativity, and management; and (2) the structural equation model fitted with the empirical data significantly with p = 0.062, 2 /df = 1.149, GFI =0.956, and RMSEA = 0.017. The hypothesis testing results showed that personality had a direct effect on knowledge and skills at the .01 level of statistical significance with the effect coefficient of 0.54. Knowledge and skills had a direct effect on capability at the .01 level of statistical significance with the effect coefficient of 1.07. Knowledge and skills had a direct effect on vision and creativity at the .01 level of statistical significance with the effect coefficient of 0.64. Vision and creativity had a direct effect on management at the .01 level of statistical significance with the effect coefficient of 0.99. Management had a direct effect on knowledge and skills at the .05 level of statistical significance with the effect coefficient of 0.50.
