Election Management Affecting People's Participation in Political Activies in Chachoengsao Province

Abstract

This research aims to 1) study the level of political participation of people in chachengsao province 2) to analyze the management of the election by the Election Commission, which affects political participation, and 3) to suggest guidelines for political participation. The research methodology is a mixed method. The conceptual framework of this research was synthesized using the concept of political participation theory by Verba & Kim, Lazasfeid, Berelson & e Gaudet, Suchit Boonbongkarn, and Phonsak Phongphaew. The population used in the research was the people living in Chachoengsao province. The sample size was calculated using Taro Yamane's formula, resulting in 400 people. In-depth interviews were conducted with 20 people involved in election management. The instruments used were questionnaires and interview forms. The reliability of the questionnaire was .85, and the qualitative data from the interviews were analyzed and summarized according to the content. The statistics used in the analysis were percentages, means, standard deviations, R-values, multiple correlation coefficients (Multiple Corelation), the relationship between groups of independent variables in the equation and the dependent variable, and multiple regression analysis.

The research results found that 1) the overall level of political participation is at a moderate level. When considering each aspect in order from the highest to the lowest average value, the motivation aspect has the highest average value, followed by the management aspect, the performance aspect, the continuous training and development aspect, the bias towards factors in the political system, the monitoring and evaluation of performance aspect, the transparency aspect, the personal factor aspect, the acceptance and confidence in the ability of personnel aspect, the political environment aspect, the social status aspect, the benefit aspect, the political stimulus aspect, the planning aspect, and the brainstorming and decision-making aspect, which has the lowest average value. 2) The Election Commission's election management found that 15 factors influence the political participation of the people, with a percentage of 47.30, which is statistically significant at the .05 level.
