Developing a Set for Organizing Activities Rhyme, Music and Songs with Movement and Rhythm to Promote Executive Functions for Young Children by Using the Participation Process of Teachers under the Local Government Organization in Chachoengsao Province

Abstract

This research aimed to: 1) develop and evaluate the effectiveness of an activity package incorporating rhymes, music, and movement with rhythm to promote executive function (EF) skills in early childhood, using a participatory process involving early childhood teachers under local administrative organizations in Chachoengsao Province, and 2) determine the efficiency of the activity package developed through the participatory process. The research was conducted in three phases: Phase 1 involved developing the activity model using a participatory process with early childhood teachers under local administrative organizations in Chachoengsao Province; Phase 2 focused on constructing and validating the activity package; and Phase 3 evaluated the activity package’s effectiveness in promoting EF skills. The sample group consisted of 25 early childhood teachers from local administrative organizations in Chachoengsao Province, selected through purposive sampling and voluntary participation. The research instruments included the activity package featuring rhymes, music, and movement with rhythm designed to promote EF skills in early childhood, and an evaluation form assessing teachers’ competency in organizing activities based on the package. Data were analyzed using mean (x̄), standard deviation (S.D.), t-tests, and efficiency indices (E1/E2).

            The findings revealed that:  1. The activity package, designed to promote EF skills in early childhood, demonstrated an efficiency level of 82.40/87.60, meeting the criteria for tool development.  2. The pre-test mean score of using the activity package was 16.48, while the post-test mean score was 17.48.  3. A comparison of the pre- and post-test scores showed a statistically significant improvement in scores after using the activity package.
