A Study of Factors Influenced over King Lithai’s Tebhūmikathā

Abstract

development suitable to the way of life of Thai society at present. Research Methodology is a documentary research. Findings are: The Three Planes, i.e. the lower worlds, the human world, and the heaven inwhich beings are to be born after death. If they do good, they shall be born in human or heaven world. If they do evil, they shall be born in lower world. The factors influenced over King Lithai to have written Tebhūmikathā came from politics and government system, the propagation of Buddhism into Thailand along with Buddhist arts and literatures, including the Buddhist teachings engaged for social goodness. All these factors were based on the interrelations among Buddhist Theravadin countries of India, Lanka, Burma, and Thailand in those periods. In this research, mentions are there on each factor as well as their influences toward the succeeding periods of Thailand. Lastly, innovation media on cosmology, hells-heavens, law of karma, and the Buddhist principles for social goodness are reviewed and exhibited.
