A GUIDELINE FOR OBSERVING PRECEPTS Of THAI GOUTH (Youths) IN THE 4.0 ERA

Abstract

Research article of ‘A Guideline for Observing Precepts of Thai Youth in the 4.0 era’ contains objectives: (1) to study the concept of precepts in Theravada Buddhist scriptures, (2) to study the problem condition of precepts observing of the youth in Thai society, (3) to present a guideline of precept observing for youth in the 4.0 era. This qualitative research was conducted by field study with in-depth-interview. The research results were found that precepts are the basic living principles of man which are the main tenets to prevent people from wrong deeds which trouble others but the practical codes giving happiness to others which are the basic norms of living to a human being. The problem condition of precepts observation infringement of youth such as crime, robbery, sexual assault, deception, gaming addiction and narcotics, lack of disciplines, weakness and no confidence. Guideline for the said solution of the youth was that various problems should be solved at personal level which is the best prevention and solution of personal or social problem. However, for observing the Buddhist five precepts, there must be preparation on the body, mind, society and the environment supported the youth in a community to learn and correctly follow the five precepts and would not violate the given precepts by living with mindfulness, awareness and shame of sins.
