The Guideline of Meditation Practice for Self-illusion Abandon Taught at Dhammoli Meditation Center, Nakhon Ratchasima Province

Abstract
This article was a part of dissertation entitled “The Guideline of Meditation Practice for Self-illusion Abandon Taught at Dhammoli Meditation Center, Nakhon Ratchasima Province” contained 3 objectives: 1) study self-illusion view in Theravada Buddhism, 2) analysis of meditation task for abandon the self-illusion view, and 3) to analyze the guideline of meditation practice for self-illusion view abandon taught at Dhammoli Meditation Center. It was qualitative research with depth-interview. The findings revealed that Sakkāyadiṭṭhi or the misconception on form, feeling, perception, thoughts, and consciousness as self-existence, which is Diṭṭhicetasika mixed with greed is called Sakkāyadiṭṭhisanyojana that binds all beings in endless life and death cycle. This wrong view is unwholesome type with clinging of the five aggregates. The complete abandon of self-illusion view, doubts and adherence to mere rules and rituals will be accomplished by Samatha and Vipassana practice through Bodhipakkhiyadhamma 37. The way to complete realization starts with listening the true teaching of Noble One, suffering observing, being shame on evil deeds, not distracted, not depressed and considering the cessation of self-illusion, and 3) guideline for the meditation practice for abandon the self-illusion taught at Dhammamoli Meditation Center showed that the center combines meditative practice found in Tipitaka for the abandonment of self-illusion taught by Phrabhavanaphisalmethi (Prasert Mantasevi) who has employed as a guideline for practice, namely the first step, seeing the form and name by distinguishing them through suffering knowing, the second step is to examine the form and name, focusing on its conditions as Three Common Manners with rational thought, the third step is to see the impermanence of form-names, its extinction of form-names, the fourth step is to realize the suffering of form-names by experiencing dangers, disgusted feeling in all formations, the fifth step is to realize the selflessness of form-name as non-self, uncontrollability and wanting to escape from the form-name observed, the sixth step is to be still toward form and name without like and dislike, the seventh step is the sacrifice the form and name, referring to wisdom of leaving all formations and defilements called Vuṭṭhānkhaminī, the removal of form and name or five aggregate clinging known as Samucchedapahāna or defilement abandon, having Nibbana as its aim. This step indicates the complete realization of suffering, its origin, its extinction, and the noble eightfold path as unity.
