Analysis of the human resource development with The Four Bhavanas

Abstract

This research article aimed at 3 objectives: 1) study the concepts and theories of human resource development, 2) study the principle of Four Bhavana, and 3) analysis the human resources development with Four Bhavana teaching by using qualitative methodology with documents from the Tipitaka, commentary, and the related documents then analyzed by content analysis and analytic inductions.


              The results of research were found that:


              1) The human resource development signifies a progress of human potential considered an important resource to increase their abilities more by relying on the process of training, education and learning to achieve both internal and external growth, including physical, social, emotional, and intellectual development.


              2) The Four Bhāvanā teaching in Buddhism refers to the development, cultivation and training for development in four areas: (1) Kayabhāvanā or physical development, external environment for its strength, balance, painless due to less attachment, (2) Silabhāvanā or moral development of worldly relation with knowledge and awareness of the changes of the world, and complementary relationship with the natural environment and society, (3) Cittabhāvanā or mental development for the strength of mentality,  moral deeds, and containing loving kindness, compassion, altruistic joy, right faith and generosity, and (4) Paññābhāvanā or wisdom development realizing things as a matter of fact, and the changing conditions of the world and life. 3) The human resource development with the Four Bhavana principle is a framework and process to encourage the developer for higher knowledge, abilities, and skills for living to achieve the admired goals. Such development brings all three benefits: (1) Current benefits which the first step everyone can reach, the stability of life in the present. There are virtues leading to temporal welfare, namely achievement of diligence, protection, association with good people and living economically, (2) Foreground benefits which a possible goal in the next or future, its virtues conducive to benefits in the future, are accomplishment of confidence, virtue, charity and wisdom, and (3) The greatest benefit referring to  an independent living above the worldly spheres and release from all problems.


              The results of research were found that:


              1) The human resource development is development of human potential which is considered an important resource to increase their potential. By relying on the process of training, education and learning to achieve both internal and external development, including; physical development, social development, emotional development and intellectual development.


              2) The Four Bhavanas in Buddhism is growth up, cultivation and the training for development in four areas: (1) Physical development is organic development, who have to contact external things wisely, not suffer because of the being involved with them. (2) Moral development is the process of communicating with the outside world knowingly and abreast for changes of the world. And a complementary relationship with the natural environment and society. (3) Emotional development is having a mind that has been developed to be strong, moral, and wisdom gained from practicing mind meditation, namely being goodwill, compassion, altruistic joy, having faith and generosity. And (4) Wisdom development is perception and understanding of things as a matter of fact. Aware of changing conditions of the world and life.  3) The human resource development with the Four Bhavanas principles in Buddhism is a framework and process to encourage people, who develop knowledge, abilities and skills in their lives to achieve the development goals. That is brings all three benefits. (1) Current benefits is the first step that human beings can reach. The stability of life is in the present. There are virtues leading to temporal welfare, namely achievement of diligence, achievement of protection, association with good people and living economically. (2) Foreground benefits is a possible goal in the next life. There are virtues conducive to benefits in the future, namely accomplishment of confidence, accomplishment of virtue, accomplishment of charity and accomplishment of wisdom. And (3) The greatest benefit is an independent step above the world and release from all the suffering.
