Abstract

This qualitative research aims: 1) to study the philosophical concept of Biodiversity loss and biodiversity conservation, 2) to study Buddhist environmentalism towards Biodiversity, and 3) to present the theoretical model of Buddhist environmentalism and Its arguments for biodiversity conservation.

The results showed that Biodiversity loss problems have been occurred from human beings’ misconduct behaviors toward Nature and Biodiversity causing the imbalance to ecology system. These problems influence global environmental problem and affect human beings’ living according to the fact that we are part of global biodiversity. In this research, mainly study on Buddhist environmentalism and various selected principles such as The Five of Natural Law, Gratitude, The Noble Eightfold Path, Threefold Training, The Law of Causation, Buddhist ethics. By reviewing that, one relating point in all those have found called “Nourishment” which can be pointing out to synthesize the concept in order to support arguments for biodiversity conservation as well as to have proper relationships and cultivate the right awareness in biodiversity conservation toward the success of sustainable development in the future.

The new theoretical model, which derived from analyzing these concepts, is called “The middle way nourishment”. It was   0analyzed and synthesized based on the nourishment in Buddhist environmentalism and Partnership Ethics presented as Food chain in the nourishment way for being existence as Biodiversity is the security of healthy life cycle. “The middle way nourishment” cultivated from Threefold training and The Noble Eightfold Path could be applied as a concept for Biodiversity conservation.
