Development Guidelines for Achieving Effective Waste Management of the Local Government Organization, Wiangsa District, Suratthani Province

Abstract

              The objectives of the study were to study: the factors that affect the effectiveness of waste management to study the level of waste management to compare factors affecting the effectiveness of waste management and to study the problems, obstacles, and development guidelines for achieving effective waste management of local administrative organizations, Wiangsa District, Suratthani Province, consisting of 394 households and choosing for each person who live in the area of the local administrative Organization in the area of Wiangsa District. Were the chief administrators and chief officers of local administrative organizations in Wiangsa District. The tools used for collecting quantitative data were the questionnaires. The tools used for collecting qualitative data were the interview forms.

              The results of from questionnaires found that: the effectiveness of solid waste management; In general, is in high level. When considering each aspect, it is found that the management has the highest mean, followed by the investment, the legal, and the supporting respectively. The comparison results showed that number of each family were not different to the effectiveness in waste management of the local government organization. On the other hand, sex, age, education level, occupation, duration of residence, housing type and local government organizations resulting in the effectiveness in waste management of the local government organization and there were differences in statistically significant at the 0.05 level.

              The results of study from the interview found that: 3R principles should be used to raise awareness of littering among household. Creating values for using cloth bags. Forming the community leaders for waste management and join with the private sector to build a biomass power plant. In matters of law must be seriously enforced. Let the law support for turning waste into money. Tax deduction for the environmentally friendly containers. The government should pass a law of waste recycling. Redeeming old things for new things by paying the difference to motivate people to sort of waste materials. And applying new technologies to disposal the solid waste.
