Waste Management for Local Administrative Organization Case Study of Pasak Subdistrict Municipality, Muang District, Lamphun

Abstract

This research aims to study guideline on the waste management of Pasak subdistrict municipality, Muang district, Lamphun province by using qualitative research methodology. Research study data is obtained by the in-depth interview with local officers and community leaders who directly partake in the waste management, including relevant documents and evidences by using Content analysis technique to analyze data obtained by the study

The research result found that: Pasak subdistrict municipality has the waste management methods by a principle of 3Rs, consisting of Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle. Also, the operation is under a cooperative seeking with the government, private, education, religion, and civil society sectors. There is a systematic waste management, by dividing such waste management into the beginning, midway, and end-point phases. Moreover, they still determine the waste management objectives in an operation plan of community waste management: “Clean Province”, Lamphun province.

Research suggestions are that, we should educate people in community regarding the habit and discipline of sustainable waste sorting. So that there might be an input into the elementary school curriculum, in order to build awareness during childhood. In reference to the policy proposal for local administrative organization, it is to integrate the waste management into local development plan, to continuously and sustainably create encouragement and support of the waste management from all relevant dimensions.
