Financial Security of the Elderly in Thailand During the COVID-19 Pandemic

Abstract
Thailand is one of the countries that have completely stepped into an aging society. Because of Thailand's success in population policy and family planning, the proportion of the elderly population is rising. A significant proportion of Thailand's elderly population still works to support themselves, since the majority of them depend on charitable donations to support their daily needs. The COVID-19 pandemic has had a negative economic impact on the elderly, with an increasing number of them becoming unemployed. This paper studies the financial security of the elderly in Thailand during the COVID-19 pandemic, aiming at analyzing the influence of socio-demographic, health and economic factors on the financial security of the elderly in Thailand during the pandemic of COVID-19. This study was conducted based on data from the 2021 Thailand Elderly Population Survey conducted by the National Statistical Office. 38,975 samples analyzing the relationship between different factors and financial security for elderly people in Thailand through the use of a statistically significant binary logical model 0.05.
Through hypothesis testing, it is found that the socio-demographic, health and economic factors of the elderly in Thailand are closely related to the financial security of the elderly in Thailand.
