Abstract

This research aimed 1) to study the level of work motivation and 2) to examine the association between characteristics, organizational factors, and work motivation of personnel at Khong Chiam Hospital in Ubon Ratchathani, Thailand. The population consisted of all personnel at Khong Chiam Hospital. Data were collected via a census using a structured, self-administered questionnaire. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, and associations between variables were examined using the chi-square test, Fisher’s exact test, and Spearman’s rank correlation coefficient.

The study found that the motivator was high in all dimensions (Mean=4.18, SD=0.46). Most hygiene factors were also high, with relationships with colleagues having the highest and compensation having the lowest. Monthly income had a low positive correlation with motivator factors (ρ=0.208, p=0.025) and a moderate correlation with hygiene factors (ρ=0.349, p<0.001). All organizational factors had a positive correlation with both motivator and hygiene factors, with employee participation having the highest correlations (ρ=0.649, ρ=0.652). In conclusion, work motivation was positively associated with organizational factors, particularly employee participation. Therefore, structural participation mechanisms should be strengthened, accompanied by a systematic evaluation of remuneration and human resource development policies.
