DIGITAL CONTENT DESIGN FOR TEACHING HOW TO CONSUME THAI TROPICAL FRUITS

Abstract

Thailand has plenty of fruits and vegetables. Many kind of Thai fruits are tasty and favorite dish of Thais and foreigners. However, many consumers especially foreigners do not know how to peel and eat Thai fruits. Then this research has been done to educate with mobile application technology by choosing 8 popular Thai fruits which are durian, coconut, mango, rambutan, jackfruit, pineapple, mangosteen and pomelo. The objectives of this research are: 1. To create an application on smartphone or mobile devices (mobile application) to introduce Thai fruits to consumers especially foreigners. 2. To create good image of Thai fruits worldwide via this application as a public relation tool since it can reach directly to consumers at any time anywhere. Research method: 1. Data gathering. 2. Study how to create mobile application from website, mobile application designer and expertise. 3. To design function of basic application and present to specialists in order to seek for recommendations and revision. 4. Testing with user in order to get feedback via questionnaires to assess the satisfaction from local users and tourists, totaling 120 samples. Results of this research: Design, font style, font size are suitable for the application. Artwork, composition, illustration, color are compatible. Overall, samples are satisfied with the application. Suggestion from user: To organize contents and category in order to create the continuity of presentation of each section. Conclusion: The average results fruits are similar whilst the design, presentation style and how to use application are major factors on the interest of user. This application can introduce Thai fruits to public will help supporting better interesting and promote Thai fruits and being another tool to boost up our export volume and economic if our Thai tropical fruits are well known in the international markets.
