Abstract

The choreographic creation of “Chuy Chai Naresuan University Prestige” is the design of dancing performance in an honor of Naresuan University for its determination in enriching a society with the pursuit of knowledge that can lead to the liberation from ignorance. The university has been putting an effort in producing graduates with not only academic but also moral integrity in order to give good manpower into a society. The inspiration gained from the abovementioned theme was; hence, portrayed through this chorographic piece of performing arts called Chuy Chai Naresuan University Prestige.

            The design of the dancing was based on the principles of Chuy Chai traditional dancing style. Chuy Chai is the Thai dancing style with graceful dancing postures and movements that are performed in harmony with lyrics and beautiful Thai-flute music. At the final part of the performance, based on this traditional dance, all musical instruments are played altogether to lead to the closing part. At the end, the dancing is performed along with Thai fast-tempo music (Pleng Reo) and Thai finale music (Pleng La). In this choreographic creation of Chuy Chai Naresuan University Prestige, the postures and movements were choreographed and created based on Thai dramatic arts in which postures and movements are designed both in harmony with a lyric and in no relation with a lyric.  A pattern and structure of movements and blocking alignments are also significant in a Thai dancing design. The procedure of the creation of the dance comprised 2 steps:

            1) the procedure of constructing a concept;

            2) the procedure of creating the performance.

            After the performance practices, the design was adjusted and improved in order to get the best creation to be performed and shown. As a result of the creation, it has also been included as one of the shows of Naresuan University.
