The objective of this study is to review
materials and techniques of fresh stucco art
of Phetchaburi craftsmen. The emphasis of
this study is based on the knowledge of
materials and technic of fresh stucco art for
conservation, development, and the method
of interview from experts in the aspect of
fresh stucco art, from Phetchaburi craftsmen.
Ten Phetchaburi craftsmen, the materials
selected and used were a mixture of fresh
stucco with necessary and inevitable
materials applied.No other materials were
used; except for lime and sand for raw
replacement use.
The main mixture included straw paper
or dry paddy straw, for the functionality and
purpose of fiber. Palm sugar and glue from
animal skin, was applied to connecting and
coordinating the base mixture. It was found
that this unique technique in fresh stucco art,
group of Phetchaburi craftsmen, was
asymmetric aspect to be flexible according to
intellect, emotion and feeling of craftsmen,

until it occurs as a specific form of
Phetchaburi craftsmen.
Currently craftsmen will use a method
of gilding and decoration by using color glass,
which craftsmen in field of fine arts call:
“gilding glass groove” to be used with stucco
art. In addition to
helping stucco art for remarkable gilding still
protects texture of lime to have longer life.
