The Royal Phaya Thai Palace is a significant historical place which is related to three reigns ofthe Chakri Dynasty : Throne Halls (Pra TeeNang), Residential Halls (Pra Tum Nuk), Halls (Tum Nuk) and surrounding buildings which hadbeen registered as a historical place since 1979.The objectives of this research have not beenfound in any previous research periodicals or journals;in order for us to explore further studies.
The original drawings show functions of all the spaces used inside the Royal palace; to collect data in the spaces functionality and afterwards were utilized to become a database for there novation of the Palace, and the benefits of studying students from the Architect branch, for public interest.
This research was studied from many literary works from the National Archives (HorJodmaihateHang Chat). The National Archives of Public records included: photographs, drawings, layouts, and interviews of officers. This information created the database. After collecting and categorizing the data changing function of spaces in the Royal Phaya Thai Palace. The data from different sources found that there were inaccurate in the drawings by comparison. The original drawings did not state the date and deviated from what was described in the literary works.
This study found that the original data of the construction reports of the palace was based upon the time land was acquired, plus building design documents. Ergo, upon the completion of the construction site, his majesty named the completed building, “Phaya Thai Palace”
The drawings of the modified palace “Hotel Phaya Thai Palace”, “Radio Bangkok at Phaya Thai” and “Bangkok Military District Medical Battalion and Army Hospital” were missing .The original drawings aged 100years and are still preserved in the National Library of Thailand.
No Authorities were found. At present the “Phaya Thai Palace Preservation Foundation under the Royal Patronage H.R.H.Princess Bejaratana” and collaboration with the Department of Fine Arts, Ministry of Culture are still conducting the preservation and conservation of the palace. Some parts of thr one halls are under restoration by the Royal Thai Army Medical Department.
It is necessary to have a central authority to become the coordinator to collect all the construction documents of all significant historical places; suchas, the cultural heritage documents.
This will become useful in the future for studying, exploring, the preservation and conservation of The Royal Phaya Thai Palace in its correct and perfect procedures.
