Abstract

The purposes of this research were to study peoples’ participation in handling the problem of trashes and to study the way in encouraging community to handle garbage by integrating participation with sufficient economic philosophy. The populations for this study were 324 people in the community of the old Salaya market. The instrument utilized in collecting information were a survey questionnaire. The computer program was used to analyze the data. Descriptive statistics and One Way ANOVA were computed to analyze the data. The researcher utilized an in-depth interview to find the way of a rubbish disposition by integrating participation with sufficient economic philosophy. The findings showed that:

  1. Peoples’ participation in handling the trash problem in aspects of the plan, the activity, the use of benefits, and assessment is at a middle level.
  2. The method in promoting the community to deal with garbage by integrating participation with sufficient economic philosophy found that it can be used as the way of the rubbish disposition. Persons’ participation is employed in aspects of the plan, progress, usefulness, and assessment. The relation integrated with the sufficient economic philosophy in aspects of moderation, reason, immunization, knowledge, and moral is at the level of middle except that persons’ participation in aspect of the plan integrated with the sufficient economic philosophy in aspect of peoples’ reason in disposing the trash in the community is at the low level.
