The Administration and Management Student Care and Support System Promoting Good Characteristics of Students at Chiengrai Vidhayakhome School, Mueang, Chiang Rai Province

Abstract

The objectives of this study were 1) to examine the administration and management circumstance of student care and support system; 2) to investigate key factors affecting the administration and management quality of student care and support system; 3) to propose the guidelines for efficient and effective administration and management of student care and support system in achieving desired future scenario. The data source, for example, primary data came from school administrators, chiefs of section, heads of class level, and teachers. The secondary data came from school documents from academic year 2015-present. The research instruments were questionnaire, interview, focus-group discussion. The data analysis employed mean, standard deviation, and content analysis. The results showed that: 1. The circumstance on administration and management of student care and support system covering 5 steps, in overall, was rated at the moderate level. And, the overall impact was found at the high level. The overall improvement and maintenance was found at the moderate level. 2. The key factors were sectioned into 2 parts: promoting and depromoting factors. The promoting factors were the school deployed education development plan, having clear organization structure, assigning operation committee, focusing on participation of all parties involved, showing positive attitudes. The depromoting factors were some teachers lacked knowledge and psychology guidance and understanding of student care and support system, modern equipment, strict supervision and monitoring from the team, modern information system management. The projects and activities should be organized consistently with specific vulnerable and problematic groups of students. The communication problems with the community network was relatively low. The school also lacked research projects about the student care and support system. 3. The guidelines for efficient and effective administration and management of student care and support system in achieving the desired future scenario of Chiang Rai Witthayakhom School for academic year 2018-2022 consisted of 2 strategies. Strategy 1: Develop students to attain morality, ethics, and desirable characteristics of the curriculum. Strategy 2: Develop stronger quality of student care and support system for use as the strategies fixing the problems in the student care and support system as well as the depromoting factors affecting the student care and support system of the school to empower the student desirable characteristics.
