Factors Related to Being a Learning Organization in Quality Development of Community Hospitals, Chumphon Province

Abstract

This study aimed to study (1) the level of being a learning organization in quality development, (2) the level of personal learning and leadership; organizational factors; and information technology factors; and (3) the relationship between personal factor, organizational factor, and information technology factors, and being a learning organization in quality development of community hospitals in Chumphon province.

This survey research was conducted with 365 public health personnel as a sampling population, randomly selected form those who were working in Chumphon province’s community hospitals. The research instrument was a questionnaire that had been checked for content validity with confidence value of 0.91. Data were collected and then analyzed for descriptive statistics, including percentages, means, standard deviations, and chi-square test.

The results showed that: (1) an overall high level for being a learning organization in quality development of community hospitals in Chumphon; (2) an overall high level for personal learning and leadership; an overall high level for organizational and information technology factors; and (3) age, working experience, organizational factors (eight aspects: leadership, organizational culture, vision, strategy, organizational structure, knowledge management, organizational atmosphere, motivation) and information technology factors were significantly related to being a learning organization in quality development of community hospitals in the province (P = 0.05).
