Cooperative factors affecting members' participation in operations of an agricultural cooperative in Suphanburi Province

Abstract

          The purposes of this research were to study the opinions on cooperative factors and operational participation factors, to compare the operational participation of members of an agricultural cooperative in Suphanburi province classified by personal factors, and to study cooperative factors affecting the operational participation of members of an agricultural cooperative in Suphanburi province. This research was quantitative research. The sample consisted of 357 members of an agricultural cooperative in Suphanburi province, calculated by using Taro Yamane's formula and using simple random sampling. The instrument used was questionnaires. The statistics used for analysis were the frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, independent t-test, one-way ANOVA and multiple regression analysis. The results showed that the respondents had a high level of opinion about cooperative factors and the operational participation factors of members of an agricultural cooperative in Suphanburi Province. Hypothesis testing results found that the personal factors include gender, age, monthly income, and the duration of membership affected the participation in the operation of an agricultural cooperative in Suphanburi province indifferently. As for the cooperative factors, consisting of the stability of cooperatives, the credibility of the committee, the sense of belonging to the cooperative, service of cooperative staff, suitability of cooperative location, ease of doing business with cooperatives, welfare (for example; medical expenses), and information publicity, affected the participation of members of an agricultural cooperative in Suphanburi province with prediction power of 51 percent (R-square =0.51), and at significance level at 0.05.
