Strategic human resource management in the new normal of the manufacturing industrial enterprises in the Chonburi Industrial Estate

Abstract

          This research aims to study the strategic human resource management in the new normal of the manufacturing industrial establishment in the Chonburi province. The research uses the semi-structured in-depth interview method to interview 25 human resource executives. The result is divided into 2 factors: external and internal factors. The external factors consisted of 3 aspects: economic and political changes, advanced information technology, and Covid-19 pandemic situations. The internal factors consisted of 3 aspects, namely organization vision and mission, organization management and organizational culture. In addition, this research has also analyzed the effect of Covid-19 situation to job responsibilities, and divided into 5 job functions: 1) Human Resource Management, 2) Recruitment and Selection, 3) Training and Development, 4) Safety and Health, and 5) Compensation and Fringe Benefits Management. In term of human resource management strategies in the New Normal, there are 3 strategies: 1) Pre-hire Strategy and Hiring Strategy, 2) Employee Retention Strategy, and 3) Terminate Employment Strategy. The results of the study can be adapted to respond to human resource management and able to increase capacity building for competitive advantages to the organization in the New Normal.
