Abstract

Ancestors and the mother of Thao Thepkrasattri and Thao Srisunthorn from the 2nd History of Thalang Seminar Reports 1996 based on: 1) The book of Thao Thepsattri, Thao Srisunthorn by Khun Norapaipicharn (Wai NaThalang) said that Praya Kelantan is father’s side great-grandfather of Thao Thepsattri, Thao Srisunthorn. But Thalang Island exploration records 1718 of Alexander Hamilton reveals the fact that Praya Kelantan doesn’t exist in history therefore his family and his descendants do not exist in Thalang history as well. 2) The Chronicle of Thalang said that Masia, Malayu widow from Maungsai, is a daughter of marhum of Maungsai. Masia is now claimed to be a Muslim and a descendant of Praya Sai, so her daughters Thao Thepkrasattri and Thao Srisunthorn must be Muslim like their mother. 2.1) Archives of Thao Thepkrasattri reveal the fact that Thao Thepkrasattri is a Thai-Chinese and a Buddhist. Therefore, Masia is not a Muslim. 2.2) Marhum’s daughter doesn’t mean a descendant of Praya Sai because the Chronicle of Muangsaiburi said that marhum means a cemetery and Thai-Malay dictionary said that marhum means a dead man. 2.3) Primary evidences of Forrest, Light, Scott and Thao Thepkrasattri, reveal the fact that Thalang and Thao Thepkrasattri’s house were in Tarrua. Thao Thepkrasattri had to care an elderly non-Muslim mother in Tarrua and the funeral of Masia had to be perform here. Therefore, Masia’s grave at Tumbon Thepkrasattri was not exist in Thalang history. 2.4) Archives of French priest said that Masia was Thai and spoke Thai language.
