STUDY ON FACTORS AFFECTING ENTERPRENEURSHIP CHARACTERISTICS OF THE STUDENTS IN RAJAMANGALA UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY LANNA, CHIANG MAI CAMPUS

Abstract

The purposes of this research are to compare the enterpreneurship characteristics and to study on factors affecting enterpreneurship characteristics of Rajamangala University of Technology Lanna, Chiang Mai Campus, students. Populations included the undergraduates majoring Business Administration and Accounting, Faculty of Business Administration and Liberal Arts, academic year 2008. Data was collected from the total of 339 samples. The tool used was the questionnaire developed specifically according to the research purposes and was consisting of 2 different question parts. One was general information and the other was an analysis of enterpreneurship characteristics. This analysis was focused on self-accomplished enterpreneurs, under CEFE Project, covering 55 questions altogether. As a result of the research, it was found that :
1. - The majority of the sample groups were taking Accounting, Marketing and General Management courses with the number of 121, 72 and 71 populations respectively.
- 48 populations were members of "Young Enterpreneurs Development" Project, most of who were taking General Management courses.
- 310 populations had desires to own businesses, most of who were studying Accounting, Marketing and General Management respectively.
- 162 had experiences in enterpreneurship training, most of who were studying General Management, Accounting and Marketing respectively.
2. - Scores of male's enterpreneurship characteristics were higher than female's for all the 10 aspects.
- Scores of the populations who registered for Small Business Management courses were higher than those who didn't for 9 aspects.
- Scores of the populations whose mothers owned businesses were higher than the others for 9 aspects.
- Scores of the populations who had experiences in enterpreneurship training were higher than those who didn't for all the 10 aspects.
- Scores of the populations who had desires to own businesses were higher than those who hadn't for 9 aspects.
3. The differences test on average scores of enterpreneurship characteristics categorized by populations' general information was done by using One-Way Analysis of Variance (One-Way ANOVA). It was found that there was a statistically recognized difference between the average scores of the students who had experiences in enterpreneurship training and those who hadn't, at 0.05 significant relationship.
