The Development of a Management Model for Transportation and Distribution Businesses to Enhance Competitiveness

Abstract

The management model development of transport and distribution business for enhance competitiveness are using qualitative and quantitative research methods. This research is purposes to 1) examine the elements of the transport and distribution business management for enhance competitiveness and 2) develop management model of transport and distribution business for enhance competitiveness. The qualitative data was collected by the in-depth interview from 13 business experts and field specialists in the sector of transport and distribution business. For quantitative data, 400 questionnaires were collected from the research sampling group. The structured-interview form and the 5-scaled questionnaire were used as the data collection tools of this research. In order to analyze quantitative data and significant statistic data including median, standard deviation, and component analysis were processed and analyzed by SPSS program. As the research results, the management model of transport and distribution business for enhance competitiveness can be divided into 3 segments. These segments are 1) Strategy, 2) Unit structure, 3) Marketing management, 4) Relationship management, 5) Information technology management, 6) Transportation management and 7) Human resource management.
