Abstract

Research is an inquiry process which uses scientific method in order to explain, predict, or control any phenomena in the fields of science and social sciences. Generally, academics divide research into two general categories: pure research and applied research. Specifically, action research is a type of applied research. Action research is aimed to apply research results into practice in order to develop and improve both effectiveness and efficiency of organization. In addition, it focuses on the use of technology and invention applied from research rather than creates or develops body of knowledge. In the field of educational administration, researchers focus on both pure research and applied research depending on the research implications required for academic or administrator. Professional administrators are required to create educational system and school management system. The primary aim of this is to promote students to be smart and virtuous, and encourage good characteristics of students in the learning society. According to school based management, it emphasizes the distribution of academic affair, budget, personnel management, and general management into schools. Therefore, administrators are unavoidably to employ action research as a tool to promote a quality school management system.
