Creative Commons and Digital Media

Abstract

At present, dissemination and access of information, knowledge, as well as various types of digital media can be done quickly and easily by using electronic devices to connect with internet signals. Therefore, many people understand that the appearances found on the internet can be used, reproduced, modified or published without asking owner's permission, leading to benighted piracy. In fact, various works that are searched on the internet are copyright, public contribution and reserved work. As a result, this article presents the difference of 3 kinds of work : 1) Copyrights which is protected by Copyright Law from being used without permission; 2) Public contributions which is not under Copyright Law and can be used freely and 3) Creative Commons which is the concept in between Copyrights and Public Contributions as an alternative for the owner to specify term of use. There are four main conditions of Creative Commons licenses as follows:   1) Attribution-BY; 2) Non-Commercial-NC; 3) Share Alike-SA and 4) No Derivative Works-ND.
