The Study of Community Potential for Local Wisdom Product Development in U-thong District, Suphanburi Province

Abstract
The objectives of the study of community potential for local wisdom product development in U-thong District, Suphanburi Province were 1) to study the readiness for product development with local wisdom and select the prototype of potential community enterprises for product development, and 2) to study the direction of community enterprises’ potential development for local wisdom product development. Gathering qualitative data was conducted by interviewing key informants from government offices, local administrative organizations, community enterprises, and conducting focus groups among community members of community enterprises. The findings found that the readiness of local wisdom product development was based on a leadership perspective. Then two prototypes of potential community enterprises on local wisdom product development were selected; one was local wisdom products linked to ethnic cultural identity and the other was organic agricultural products were with six qualified potential factors of transformational leadership, knowledge, learning process, community organization, and network, outside supporter, and performance. They had the mutual strengths of transformational leadership that contributed to the factors of cultural and wisdom knowledge, learning process management, and networking affecting their satisfied performance continuously. On the other hand, community enterprises’ limitations were from weaknesses in manpower, technology, and marketing and obstacles are consumer’s popularity and competitors.
