Abstract

The objectives of this research were to: 1) develop the Sound Battlefield game; 2) compare the learning achievement in the speed of sound between pretest and posttest by using the Sound Battlefield game; and 3) study the student’s satisfaction toward the Sound Battlefield game. The sample was 26 students in Mathayomsuksa 5/1 in the Science-Mathematics program at Phruphi Pittayakom School, selected through cluster random sampling using the classroom as the sampling unit. The research instruments were: 1) Sound Battlefield game, a 3D online game on the Roblox platform, 2) a lesson plan on the speed of sound (one plan for two hours), 3) pretest and posttest learning achievement, comprising 10 multiple-choice questions with 4 options each, and 4) a satisfaction questionnaire on the Sound Battlefield Game. The statistics for data analysis were efficiency, effectiveness, mean, standard deviation and dependent sample t-test.

The research findings showed that;

1. the efficiency of the Sound Battlefield game was 75.38/76.92 and the effectiveness was 0.60.

2. the posttest of students’ learning achievement by using the Sound Battlefield game was higher than the pretest with the statistical significance at .01 level.

3. the overall student’s satisfaction towards the sound battlefield game were at the highest level ( = 4.64, S = 0.47).

This research provided new knowledge in the application of learning activities through the  integration of the metaverse system, 3D online games using the Roblox game platform, and multiple-choice tests, making learning activities more modern and responsive to the digital age.
