Abstract

The main objectives of this study is to create and develop the performance of “The fascination of Thai archery” for the conservation of Thai archers by utilizing the method of data collection from academic document and comprehensive analysis. The study results showed that the archery has been an important skill and has an extensive history dated back in the ancient times as there are a number of evidences indicating that archery has been practiced as a weapon in combat as well as in dramatic works. The innovative Thai dancing art of the archer is divided into three different phases. The first phase is about the archery training in different levels; whereas the following phase is to express the archery aesthetics illustrating the beauty of the bow and Thai dancing choreography. The last section is to describe the using of archery in the battle including the wartime. The development process consists of seven different parts, beginning with defining the concept of the performance and followed by the melody creation and the selection of the music theme. Then, the audition will be held following that the dancing patterns will be designed. Subsequently, the costume and the ornamentation will be selected. From this, the performance is expected to present to the professionals before premiere to the public. This performance is flourishing the concept of Thai dancing invention reflecting the ideas through the show. Not only this would raise awareness but this also conserves the Thai archery. Given the value added to the Thai cultural and national identity, this performance would play more than important role to promote both Thai music and dances simultaneously.
