Development of a Package of Activities to Promote 5 Healthy Elements for the Elderly in Wiang How Sub-District Administrative Organization, Phan District, Chiang Rai Province.

The purposes of this research were: (1) to develop a package of activities to promote 5
healthy elements for the elderly in Wiang How Sub- District, Administrative Organization Phan District,
Chiang Rai Province; (2) to take a package of activities to promote 5 elements for the elderly; and (3) to
evaluate the implementation of the promotion of 5 elements.
The target group of this study was the elderly in the area of Wiang How Sub- District
Administrative Organization, Phan District, Chiang Rai Province totally of 30 persons. The samples were recruited by simple method volunteer sampling. The instruments were content analysis,
interview, behavior observation, focus group discussion, evaluation form of health behaviors along
the 5 elements of the elderly. The statistics used to analyze data were percentage, mean, standard
deviation, and t-test.
The results of this research were: (1) to gain a package of activities to promote 5 healthy
elements for the elderly, namely, “Healthy Elderly must have 5 Elements”, consiting of 5 activities.
Activity 1: “Elastic”, Activity 2: “Boil Stir Curry Fry”, Activity 3: “Assemble Body” Activity 4: “The Wind
Blows”, Activity 5: “Read from the Shit”; (2) After using the developed activity package for the elderly,
it is found that the behavioral expression of the elderly was based on the objectives of the activity; and
(3) in general, the elderly have shown health behavior along the 5 elements in a better way. Prior
to participating in the activity, the behavior was moderate. After participating in the activity, the
behavior was at the high level. Compared to the average behavioral expression of the elderly along
the 5 elements in the overall aspects before and after the activity, it was found that the average value
after participating in the activity was significantly different from the average before the participation
in the promotion activity at the statistic level of 0.05 The average value after was higher than before
participating in the activity.
