Factors influencing decision-making of undergraduate enrollment in music education The College of Dramatic Arts

The objectives of this research are: 1) to examine the factors influencing the decision to enroll in the Bachelor of Education program, Major in Music Education, at the College of Dramatic Arts, and 2) to compare the factors affecting the decision to study in the Bachelor of Education program, Major in Thai Music and Western Music, at the College of Dramatic Arts. The participants in this study include 140 students from the 1st to 3rd year of the Vocational Certificate program, with 70 majoring in Thai music and 70 majoring in Western music. These participants were selected through random sampling. This study employs a descriptive research design. Data were collected through questionnaires, and quantitative research methods were applied for data analysis.
The results of the research revealed the following: 1) the overall opinions regarding factors influencing the decision to study in the Bachelor of Education program, Major in Music Education, at the College of Dramatic Arts were evaluated at a high level, with an average score of 3.59. Among the external factors, the concern regarding teachers and staff received the highest average score
= 4.17, followed by curriculum issues, college image, management, and teaching equipment. The mean values (
) were 3.79, 3.72, 3.39and 3.07, respectively. For internal factors, it was found that the expectations of vocational certificate students had a high impact on decision-making (
= 3.63), while student motivation had a moderate effect on decision-making (
= 3.38). 2) The comparative analysis of factors affecting the decision to study in the Bachelor of Education program, Major in Thai and International Music, at the College of Dramatic Arts revealed significant differences in the motivation factor (t = 2.545, p = .012), teaching equipment factor (t = 4.809, p < .01)and college management factor (t = 2.697, p = .008). These differences were statistically significant.
