Publication Ethics
Sukhothai Thammathirat Open University Journal (STOU) Ethical Standards
Article Author:
- The author must submit any article to STOU Journal editor through journal online submission and do not submit articles to other journals at the same time.
- STOU Journal reserves the right to remix and adapt any articles appropriately and the editorial board do not have to agree with author’s opinions.
- If any duplicated article has been conducted, it must be under author’s responsibility olly. All published articles are under journal ownership. Any article parts or entire article could not be reprinted unless permission is granted by the editorial board.
Editorial Board
- STOU editorial board provides the journal in accordance with the journal’s objectives and the needs of the target audience, both readers and authors.
- STOU editorial board continuing improves and controls the quality of articles in the journal
- STOU editorial board adheres to the opinions of readers and authors by emphasizing the accuracy of articles in the journal.
- STOU editorial board adheres to intellectual property standards without business interests
- STOU editorial board accepts and corrects mistakes from publication, enlightenment, withdrawal, and apology for the article errors.
Editors
- The editor proceeds to ensure the quality of the authors’ academic works published in journals.
- The editor decides to accept or reject academic works for publication based on the importance, modernity, content accuracy, academic works’ clarity, and journal scope.
- The editor is ready to give explanations or provide information about the peer review process, including any errors arising from the specified inspection process.
- The authors can appeal to editors, if the authors have different opinions from the editor's decision.
- The editor publish informative advice to all authors and recommendations are always updated.
- The editor does not change the decision to accept the rejected academic works except for serious problems occurring in the journal process.
- The editor publishes the needed advice to the peer reviewers and recommendations are always updated.
- The editor has a system protecting the peer reviewers’ personal information.
- The editor has systems ensuring academic works submitted to journals and the works would be kept secret during the evaluation process.
Complaints and the Process of Handling Complaints with the Journals
- The editor proceeds the journal according to the work process.
- The editor responds to complaints immediately and should allow the complainants to make a complaint again if they are not satisfied.
- The editor has to disclose criticism of academic works published in the journal except that the editor has other rationale reasons for not disclosing the criticism.
- The editor gives an opportunity for the authors of the academic work criticized by others to be able to reply as well as academic works which conflict with published academic works
- The editor ensures that details of all parts in academic works published in the journal must comply with accepted international ethics.
- The editor makes sure that all academic works to be published must be approved by the editorial board and the journal committee but the approval does not guarantee that the academic works are always ethical.
- The editors must protect the confidentiality of personal information in academic works. However, the editor is able to publish academic works without having consent documents if those articles are important to the public or having difficulty obtaining consent documents and the public do not oppose the publication.
- The complainant can appeal to the journal committee's recommendations.
- Complaints of the authors, readers, peer reviewers, editor may be submitted to the editorial board and the journal committee for consideration.
- Upon the complaint to the journal, the complainant must make a written complaint to the editor directly first. If the complaint is not resolved satisfactory. The complainant can submit the complaint to the journal committee.
- Complaints that have been processed through the complaint process to the journal only can be forwarded to the editorial board. All related documents must also be attached.
- The editorial board will accept the complaint within 6 months after the journal has considered the complaint. In this regard, the journal committee may consider it outside the mention period as a special case.
- The journal committee will not consider complaints about the content of the article publication verdict but will consider the process or criticism about the content of the academic works.
- The journal committee consider the complaint then the committee will notify the complainant with the following final recommendations:
- The editor has to apologize the complainant according to the complaint received.
- The Editor has to post the information from the journal committee.
- The journal has to improve the process of the journal
Misconduct Monitoring
- The editor has to monitor any unusual or suspected academic works, both published and unpublished.
- The editor will not deny academic results or suspects immediately but must first follow up for the facts.
Certification of Academic Works
- If there is any inaccuracy in the published academic work, the editor must correct immediately.
- If fraudulent behaviors appears after the investigation, the editor must revoke any article with clear evidence. In this regard, the revocation must be made to the readers and other relevant persons as well.
Conflict of Interest
The editor has system for managing conflicts of interest among editor, journal staff, authors, peer reviewers, and the editorial board.
