Abstract

Although Adlerian counseling theory is not a theory of family counseling directly, but the fundamental concepts of the theory concern to Adler's view of their family including the concept of inferiority, striving for superiority, family constellation and early recollections. After Adler passed away, Dreikurs applied his theory in education and family counseling in the United States. For family counseling in new parents who consider to have a new member in their family, it is important to understand the structure of the family constellation, pay attention to parenting and good relationships among the family members. This article presents family counseling for new parents based on Adlerian Theory. The content includes the goals of the counseling, Adler's history, key concepts, counseling process, skills and techniques of family counseling for new parents.
