Model Development of Buddhist Transformative Learning Process Management

Abstract
This research has three objectives as following: 1) to synthesize the conceptual model and learning process according to the principles of Buddhism and Jack Mezirow’s theory of transformative learning, 2) to develop a Buddhist transformative learning process management model towards internal changes, 3) to analyze the results of the development of a Buddhist learning process management model towards internal changes. It was an applied research. The results showed that 1) the essence of Mezirow’s theory of transformative learning are: (1) experiences that show injustice called a disorienting dilemma, (2) time to reflect on internal oneself and wise reflection called Self Reflection, (3) rational conversation process of new meaning finding to internal change leading to a new conception of world perspective (Action) and reflecting results on oneself and group levels, 2) The development of Buddhist transformative learning management model towards internal changes through the integration of Buddhist knowledge emphasizing on Ānāpānasatibhāvanā, Mettābhāvanā, and Maranassatibhāvanā to bring about the new perception process for a new perspective change on world and life through questioning to foster thought and self-reflection that link to practice (Action) that implicate for world view changing by applying Jack Mezirow’s theory of transformative learning as the main data synthesis, and 3) The changes occurred in 2 dimensions: first dimension referring to results of new meaning creating or learning new meaning schemes which adjust thoughts and beliefs, and second dimension referring to the change of perspective results of person which is a profound complete internal change.
