A SYNTHESIS OF ART THESES IN BACHELOR OF EDUCATION PROGRAM OF BUNDITPATANASILPA INSTITUTE

Abstract

The purposes of this study were to 1) analyze characteristics of art theses, 2) evaluate the quality of art theses, and 3) synthesize body of knowledge derived from art theses of the students. The sample of this study was a group of 72 art theses published during 2016-2022 drawn based on the selection criteria. The instruments included a coding form of art theses characteristics and an evaluation form of art theses quality. Data were collected during the period of December 2021 - April 2022. The obtained data were subsequently analyzed through frequency distribution, percentage, mean, standard deviation, and content analysis. The research findings were as follows:

1. Regarding characteristics of art theses, it was found that the majority of art theses was in the field of Thai Music Education (65.28 percent) while 30.56 percent of them were conducted in 2019 with a length of 71-130 pages (51.39 percent). Typically, the sample group was secondary school students (44.44 percent), with a sample size between 1-10 units (43.06 percent). Non-probability sampling was frequently used (72.22 percent). In addition, no theoretical frameworks (62.50 percent) and no research hypotheses (55.56 percent) were employed in their studies.
2. Overall, the mean of the quality of art theses was rated at a high level ( = 3.78, S.D. = 0.44).
3. Synthesizing body of knowledge from art theses revealed that the Behaviorism Theory was used the most. Learning innovation, technology- based teaching methods, and the use of testing as measurement and evaluation were most employed.
