DEVELOPMENT OF A CLASSICAL GUITAR SKILL TRAINING MODULE USING ESAN FOLK MUSIC

Abstract

         The present study, entitled Development of a Classical Guitar Skill Training Module Using Isan Folk Music, aimed to: (1) develop a classical guitar skill training module incorporating Isan folk songs, and (2) evaluate the effectiveness of the developed training module based on the predetermined criterion of 80/80. The sample group consisted of six third-year vocational certificate students enrolled in Western Music 5  (advanced practical) at Roi Et College of Dramatic Arts, Bunditpatanasilpa Institute, during the first semester of the 2023 academic year. The sample was selected through purposive sampling. The research instruments included 4 units of the classical guitar skill training module based on Isan folk music and a classical guitar performance assessment form.

       The research results found that

       1. The development process of the classical guitar skill training module using Isan folk music involved examining the existing problems in classical guitar instruction, determining the content, reviewing relevant documents, designing the curriculum, analyzing the curriculum structure, and specifying content details and objectives aligned with both the curriculum and learners’ needs. The training module comprised four units: Unit 1: Western music theory and notation for Isan folk music Unit 2: Basic classical guitar performance skills, including ascending and descending major and minor scales Unit 3: Classical guitar performance of Lai Toei Khong Unit 4: Classical guitar performance of Lai Sud Sanaen

          2. The efficiency of the classical guitar skill training module using Isan folk music for third-year vocational certificate students at Roi Et College of Dramatic Arts met the established criterion, achieving an efficiency score of 81.11/87.50.
