Politics in The Parliamentary System of The Kingdom of Cambodia

Abstract

The objective of this research is 1) to study the parliamentary politics of the Kingdom of Cambodia regarding the evolution of politics and democracy 2) to study the factors affecting the politics in the parliamentary system of the Kingdom of Cambodia Is qualitative research using documentary research and in-depth interview sample groups in the interview were 4 groups (1) members of the Cambodian House of Representatives (2) High-ranking officials in the Cambodian government agencies (3) legal scholars and independent academics of Cambodia (4) Citizens with voting rights. Elected and used to exercise general elections in Cambodia the tools used in the research were semi-structural interview forms. Tools are inspected by 5 experts.


          The results of the research showed that political evolution can be divided into 5 eras. (1) The first ruling era of Norodom Sihanouk (1954-1970) (2) The Cambodian Republic of General Lonnol (1970) -1975) (3) Cambodia era under the rule of the Khmer Rouge or Cambodia Democratic (1975-1979) (4) era of the Government of the People's Republic of Cambodia (1979-1989) and (5) the era of transition to democracy. Also, the factors which indicate the non-democracy of Cambodia are (1) the leadership and the prestige of Prime Minister Hun Sen (2) the factors of political parties (3) the factors of campaigning and competition in the election (4) Factors for independence and justice in elections (5) Factors of law enforcement and regulation (6) Factors regarding the dissolution of political parties (7) Factors of rights and freedom
