A Condition Study and Needs Assessment on Potential Development of Academic Supporting Personnel of King Mongkul’s University of Technology North Bangkok

Abstract

The objectives of this research were: 1) to study the condition and needs assessment on potential development of academic supporting personnel of King Mongkut’s University of Technology North Bangkok; and 2) to propose the guidelines for developing the potential of academic supporting personnel of King Mongkut’s University of Technology North Bangkok. This research was conducted in the form of quantitative research. The sample group was 306 academic supporting personnel of King Mongkut’s University of Technology North Bangkok consisted of government officers, university employees, outsourcing employees, part-time employees, and full-time employees. The research tool used for collecting data was a questionnaire for studying on current condition and need on potential development of academic supporting personnel of King Mongkut’s University of Technology North Bangkok classified by the 6 dimensions of development. The results revealed that Priority Needs Index (PNI _modified) was ranged from 0.05 to 0.14. Dimension of development with the highest level of Priority Needs Index was an observation study followed by work teaching and training. On the other hand, the orientation had the lowest level of Priority Needs Index. It represented that academic supporting personnel of King Mongkut’s University of Technology North Bangkok had the opinion that observation study had the highest level of needs and it must be firstly developed to enhance potential.
