Prototype of Professional Standards of Automotive Refinishing Technicians to Create Identity According to The Royal Guidance of The Father of Thai Skill Standard

Abstract

This academic article had the objectives as follows: 1. to study the prototype of professional standards in automotive refinishing technicians, 2. to present the prototype and guidelines for developing learning techniques for automotive refinishing by demonstration of auto parts refinishing techniques and 3. to present the development guidelines of automotive refinishing technician skills to industrial labor markets and self-employment. The principles of the qualification of the automotive refinishing technicians "exquisiteness, efficiency and standard", according to the Royal guidance (King Rama 9), were the key method for students to learn starting from the theory, demonstration, practice and repetition. The results found that: the refinishing industry is an important industry in Thailand. The teachers in this field have adopted the principles as a prototype professional standard for teaching and developing students to pass 80 percent of all the evaluation criteria of the course. Teaching refinishing techniques starts from the surface preparation because it is important in beginning the refinishing process. Rough surface preparation will affect the next step, as well as techniques for using the equipment of refinishing correctly. In the real life working, if the work process is not done correctly, it will not be able to send work to customers. This study method is most useful for students in the field because they had learned the theory and participated in correct practices related to refinishing automotive works which can be used or applied in their actual works in the future effectively according to their situations, whether in the labor markets or self-employment.
