Community Participation Approach Towards Sustainable Ecotourism in Nakhon Phanom Province

Abstract
The objectives of this research were to study 1) community participation in sustainable ecotourism in Nakhon Phanom, 2) guidelines for public participation management in sustainable ecotourism of Nakhon Phanom, and 3) the relationship between public participation and management approaches to Sustainable Ecotourism in Nakhon Phanom. The mixed research method is quantitative research by collecting data with questionnaires from 400 samples of people living in Nakhon Phanom. Analyzed data using a t-Test, One-way Analysis of Variance, Correlation Analysis Pearson Correlation, and Regression Analysis. Qualitative research approach data were collected with in-depth interviews with 18 people. Analyzing the content obtained from the interviews to discuss the findings of the study.
The results of the research were as follows: (1) community involvement towards sustainable eco-tourism as a whole was at a moderate level. Most participants were in the plan. But the public has not yet participated in every step of the process. (2) management approach to Sustainable Ecotourism of Nakhon Phanom overall, there was a balance in all 4 aspects at a moderate level. Management guidelines were the most social but also lacked stability and is not sustainable for a long time, (3) people's participation correlated with the sustainable eco-tourism management approach of Nakhon Phanom overall, they were related in every aspect. The participation of the public in receiving the results from the operation had the most correlation with sustainable eco-tourism guidelines but the mutual interaction is still profit-making.
