The Study of Problems and Obstacles Affecting the Initiatives of the Auto Parts Industry

Abstract
The purposes of this research were: 1) to study the problems and obstacles that affected the initiatives in the automotive parts industry; and 2) to analyze the external business environment that affected the initiatives in the automotive parts industry. This research is qualitative, with steps of reviewing conceptual frameworks, theories, relevant research, and interviews. The sample in this study was comprised of executives, or deputy managers, or above-level positions in automotive parts manufacturers, totaling 17 samples. The data came from in-depth interviews with semi-structured questionnaires. Data analysis was done through descriptive analysis of the overall problems and obstacles that affected the initiatives of the automotive parts industry. The research results identified that 1) political, economic, social, technological, environmental, and legal factors have influenced initiatives in the auto parts industry. To increase the ability to take initiative, the organization should increase leadership skills, strategic management, personnel management, cost focus, change culture, and enhance the capability of the automotive parts industry to create new initiatives and innovations if it pays attention to motivating employees to stimulate initiatives leading to new and unique innovations.
