Abstract

This research aimed to: (1) study the current research grant application process and analyze problems, obstacles, and the requirements of academic staff and academic support staff as a guideline for designing an online research grant application system for the College of Industrial Technology, King Mongkut’s University of Technology North Bangkok; and 2) evaluate the satisfaction of academic staff and academic support staff toward the online research grant application system. The sample consisted of 97 academic staff and academic support staff members of the College of Industrial Technology, King Mongkut’s University of Technology North Bangkok. The research instruments included: in-depth interviews, with data analyzed using content analysis; and a rating-scale questionnaire based on a five-point Likert scale, with data analyzed using descriptive statistics. The research findings revealed that: 1) the current research grant application process is still paper-based, involves complicated procedures, requires a long processing time, and lacks a clear tracking system and 2) the results of the satisfaction evaluation of academic staff and academic support staff toward the online research grant application system indicated that the overall level of satisfaction was at the highest level. In particular, the aspect of services and support obtained the highest mean score.
