The Contemporary Puppet Theater “The Magic Mirror” : Creative Play for Performing Arts Communication Students

Abstract

This creative research by using contemporary puppet theater aims to study the process of creative play and activity design for class study of Department of Performing Arts Communication. The result shows that there are 7processes which are: 1) The Practice of play Adaptation 2) Creative Puppetry 3) Practice and rehearsal performances 4) Dancing and body movements 5) Exploring actions and learning to act through the puppet including theatre techniques 6) Rehearsal Techniques and 7) Drama Playing and evaluation. The creative play is a way of teaching and learning drama by using Student-centered learning method which develops imagination, thoughts, Improvisation, creative expression and dramatic skills.
