STEM Collaborative Professional Development for Early Childhood Teachers

Abstract
Professional development for early childhood teachers in STEM learning experiences is important as it enhances early childhood teachers to provide effectively STEM learning experiences for students to develop 21st century skills. This article presents a literature review as a framework for the development of the STEM collaborative professional development program for early childhood teachers. The program was grounded on collaborative professional development program, lesson study, and STEM integrated in early childhood education. It was consisted of two parts of the teachers’ development: 1) a workshop to build knowledge and understanding that related to STEM learning experiences and 2) the development of STEM lessons. In the second part, teachers from the same school worked together collaboratively to apply knowledge from the workshop to develop the STEM lessons.
