The Effects of Group Counseling Program Based on Reality Theory for Resilience Enhancement of Mathayom Suksa 2 Students from Divorced Families at Tessaban 5 (Wathuapomnork) School Songkhla Province

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to study the effects of group counseling program based on reality theory for resilience enhancement of students from divorced families at Tessaban 5 (Wathuapomnork). The sample consisted of 16 Mathayom Suksa 2 students from divorced families, obtained by simple random sampling. They were then randomly assigned into the experimental group and the control group, with 8 students each. The employed research instruments were 1) the initial screening form of students from divorced families; 2) resilience enhancement inventory with reliability coefficient of .88; and 3) a group counseling program based on reality theory for resilience enhancement. The results revealed that 1) the developed group counseling program based on reality theory for resilience enhancement was rated good ; 2) prior to the experiment, students in the experimental group and the control group were not different in their level of resilience ; 3)  resilience level of students in the experimental group in the post-trial period was significantly higher than  in the pre-trial period at  the .05 level; 4) resilience level of students in the experimental group in the post-trial period was significantly higher than that of the students in the control group at the .05 level; and 5) resilience level of students in the experimental group  in the follow - up period was significantly higher than in the post-trial period at the .05 level.
