The Critical Success Factors of Management in Primary World-Class Standard School under The Basic Education Commission

Abstract

The purposes of this research are to study the level of success and analyze factors that affect success in management of primary world-class standard schools under the Office of the Basic Education Commission.  The research sample consisted of 89 primary world class standard schools.  Key research informants were school directors, school deputy directors or heads of Academic Affairs and heads of Learning Areas.  The employed research instrument was a questionnaire on success in management of primary world-class standard school, with reliability coefficient of 0.95.  The research data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and stepwise multiple regression analysis. The results of this research are as follows: 1. The overall success in management of primary world-class standard schools is rated at the high level, with the strategic planning aspect receiving the highest rating mean, while the knowledge management, analysis and management aspect receiving the lowest rating mean. 2. There are 4 factors affecting the success in management of primary world-class standard schools, namely, the factor of external environment, the factor of characteristics of involving persons, the factor of policy and practice, and the factor of goal.  The external factor that affects the success in management of primary world-class standard schools at the highest level is the external environment factor; while the internal factor that affects the success in management of primary world-class standard schools at the highest level is the policy and practice factor. The factors can be combined to explain the success in management of primary world-class standard schools by 73.30 percent which is significant at the .01 level of statistically significance.
