Parent’s Roles in Building Transition from Kindergarten to Primary School

Abstract
The purpose of this research was to study parent’s roles in building transition from kindergarten to primary school in 3 aspects which were the promotion of children's readiness, collaboration with schools and the preparation of the family. The samples were 416 parents of primary school students studying in grade 1 in school under the Office of the Basic Education Commission, Bangkok Metropolitan Administration, Office of the Private Education Commission and Office of the Higher Education Commission. Research instruments were questionnaire forms and interviewing forms. Statistics for data analysis were frequency, percentage, standard deviation and content analysis. The research findings found that parent’s roles in building transition from kindergarten to primary school in all 3 aspects performed in a high level. Regarding each aspect, it was found that the preparation of the family performed at the highest level, the promotion of children's readiness performed at the highest level and collaboration with schools performed in a high level, respectively.
