The Guidelines for Professional Learning Community (PLC) Administration of Ban Wiang Fang School, Fang District, Chiang Mai Province

Abstract

                   The aim of this study was to develop the guidelines for Professional Learning Community (PLC) administration of Ban Wiang Fang School, Fang District, Chiang Mai Province. The population recruited 50 participants to involved in responding to the questionnaire and focus-group discussion. The data was analyzed for PNI, mean, standard deviation, content analysis and developed into a summary report. The results showed that:

  1. The current professional learning community administration of Ban Wiang Fang School, Fang District, Chiang Mai Province following PDCA, in overall, was rated at the high level (gif.latex?\mu = 3.91). The individual 4-aspect analysis showed that the aspect holding the highest mean was Plan. The desirable circumstance of professional learning community administration for Ban Wiang Fang School following PDCA framework, in overall, was rated at the high level. The 4 individual aspects analysis also showed the high level while the aspect holding the highest mean was Plan. The Priority Needs Index (PNI) analysis following PDCA, in overall, showed PNI = 0.10, while the individual steps analysis showed that the step holding the highest PNI was Plan.
  2. The factors affecting professional learning community of Ban Wiang Fang School consisted of 2 types i.e. (1) Promoting factors were the school administrators allowed teachers to voice their opinion freely and creatively, promoted team working, showed readiness on building and facilities for organizing activities, teachers conducted meeting on the plan before running activities, and school administrators consistently reviewed the reimbursing documents of all activities. (2) De-promoting factors were some teachers lacked knowledge and understanding on running activities and lacked the budget support in running activities. There were too many extra work interferences that affected inconsistent activity operation and failed the goals.
  3. The guidelines for administration professional learning community of Ban Wiang Fang School for better development, consistent with desirable future scenario, and underpinning PDCA framework were proposed. 1) Plan: The school administrators and teachers share their participation in formulating the professional learning community plan by designing vision, goals, mission of the school. 2) Do: The school administrators and teachers must act according to the shared vision, officially appoint people in charge of the project as well as committee directing and monitoring the activities operation consistently following the scheduled school action plan calendar. 3) Check: The school administrators should direct, monitor, evaluate and develop the friendly organization structure leading to the construction of a public learning community in the school. 4) Act: The school administrators and teachers must feedback the operation and review the results for efficiency improvement of professional learning community administration by reviewing the operation database against the intended goals and objectives for improvement and further development.
