Factors Related to the Quality of working life of Health Personnel Under the Public Health Office of Trang Province

Abstract

This survey research study of factors related to the work-life quality among public health personnel under the Trang Provincial Public Health Office. Objectives of this research are: 1) To study the quality of public health personnel’s work- life; 2) To study factors related to the work- life quality of public health personnel under the Trang Provincial Public Health Office. The sample group included 320 public health personnel, using a systematic random sampling method.  A questionnaire, with a consistency index between 0.5 - 1.0, and a reliability score of 0.93, was used to collect data. Statistics for data analysis were frequency, percentage, mean, and standard deviation. Hypothesis testing for correlation was conducted, using Pearson correlation.                  

Results indicated that the duration of work performance had a low positive correlation with the quality of work life, with a statistical significance (r = 0.306, p = 0.049). Work performance had a low positive correlation with the quality of work-life, with a statistically significant (r = 0.409, p = 0.032). Average monthly income had a very high positive correlation with quality of working life, with statistically significant (r = 0.910, p = 0.009).  Age and distance from home to workplace had no correlation with quality of work-life (r = 0.054, p = 0.537),(r = -0.070 , p = 0.422), respectively.

Recommendations: There should be guidelines and measures to improve the quality of life by promoting considerations of merits, income, and years of work, that are suitable for individual performance in the future
