An Operational Model for the Prevention and Resolution of Drug Addiction Problems in the Community by Village Health Volunteers: A Case Study of Sukhothai Province

Abstract

This mixed-methods research design aimed to study an operational model for the prevention and resolution of drug addiction problems in the community by village health volunteers in Sukhothai Province. The research was conducted in two phases: Phase 1 developing an operational model for the prevention and resolution of drug addiction problems in the community and Phase 2 evaluating an operational model for the prevention and resolution of drug addiction problems in the community.

The results found six key parts of the model: (1) Developing good data system; (2) Developing peaceful approaches rehabilitation system; (3) Create an atmosphere of understanding and communication according to the community; (4) Developing varieties of good activities; (5) Creating participatory approaches for networks; and (6) Encouraging ownership and transformational leadership. The evaluation results indicated that the overall quality was at a high level, beneficial was rated at the highest level, feasibility was at a high level, appropriation was at a moderate level, and accuracy coverage was at a high level.
